Musculoskeletal Care
Musculoskeletal pain is caused by injury to muscles, tendons, bones, and/or ligaments. Activities that may cause musculoskeletal pain include unaccustomed or intense exercise, muscle overuse, repetitive physical work, poor posture, and poorly designed workstations. Mainstays of treatment include stretching, physical therapy, topical or oral pain relievers, and injection of medicine into painful areas. We may also advise you on how to correct posture, adjust your activity, and avoid overusing certain muscles until your condition improves. Customized exercise programs can be devised.
Prosthetics and Orthotics
A prosthesis is an artificial substitute for a missing arm or leg that is used to restore the function of that limb or for cosmetic purposes. There have been many advances in the types of protheses available to patients with both upper and lower extremity amputations. There are prostheses that can not only be customized in looks and design but also have functional features such as electronically powered knee and ankle joints. We work with many local vendors to fit patients for the appropriate prosthesis and make adjustments when a device is uncomfortable.
